The X Factor ist ein weltweiter Musikwettbewerb-Fernsehshow-Franchise, der vom britischen Produzenten Simon Cowell und seiner Firma Syco ins Leben gerufen wurde. Die Show hat ihren Ursprung im Vereinigten Königreich (siehe The X Factor (Vereinigtes Königreich) ), wo sie als Ersatz für Pop Idol (2001–2003) entwickelt und im Anschluss in verschiedenen Ländern adaptiert wurde.
The X Factor: Battle of the Stars was a celebrity special edition of The X Factor, which screened on ITV, starting on 29 May 2006 and lasting for eight consecutive nights. Pop Idol was intended to be broadcast in its place as Celebrity Pop Idol but was stopped shortly before transmission, when ITV selected The X Factor instead.
