Biography. Hanson Risley was the father of Olive Risley, William Henry Seward's adopted daughter. He was born in Fredonia, NY and was a lawyer. As Governor. Seward appointed him the Master in Chancery, and he was elected the Clerk of Chautauqua County in 1854. Risley was elected to the NY State Assembly in 1861.
