La Universidad de Durham (en inglés: University of Durham) es una universidad británica situada en el condado de Durham. Fue fundada en 1832 por orden del Parlamento del Reino Unido . Hay evidencia de clases en Durham de hace 1,000 años y es considerada la tercera universidad más antigua del país tras Oxford y Cambridge.

Bishop Van Mildert and the Dean and Chapter of Durham Cathedral founded the University of Durham in 1832. After Van Mildert's death in 1836, the Castle was given to the University, becoming University College in 1837. Early generations of students lived in the Castle Keep, which was reconstructed in 1840 by Anthony Salvin.

Since 1837, Durham Castle has been home of University College, the oldest of Durham University's Colleges. Often mistaken for simply halls of residence, colleges are much more about belonging to a community, with a common identity, traditions, sports teams, societies and activities. Accommodation is just one aspect of being a member of a college.

Durham Castle. Sitting at the heart of Durham's World Heritage Site and occupied continuously since the 11th century, the Castle is now home to the students of University College, part of Durham University. Visitors are welcome to join our guided tours and special events.
