Lady Jean Gordon died on 14 May 1629 at Dunrobin Castle at the age of eighty-three. She was buried in Dornoch. Lady Jean Gordon, Countess of Bothwell (1546- 14 May 1629), was a wealthy Scottish noblewoman and the first wife of James Hepburn, Earl of Bothwell who became, after his divorce from Lady Jean, the third husband of Mary, Queen of Scots.

15 de feb. de 2023 · The photo is not of Lady Jean Gordon, Countess of Argyll 1479-1548. It is of Lady Jean Gordon, Countess of Bothwell and afterwards Countess of Sutherland 1546-1629. If you look at the picture it bears the date 1566, 18 years after the Countess of Argyll died!
17 de mar. de 2022 · Jean was the daughter of the powerful northern lord, George Gordon, Earl of Huntly, known as the Cock of the North. Jean married the rather brutal James Hepburn, Earl of Bothwell, who later went on to form a disastrous marriage with Mary Queen of Scots. Jean then became the Countess of Sutherland through her marriage to Alexander Gordon.
