Hindenburg starb in seiner ostdeutschen Heimat im Gut Neudeck (Kreis Rosenberg), das ihm 1927 von Soldaten- und Wirtschaftsverbänden geschenkt worden war. Nach einer der Frömmigkeit Hindenburgs hohnsprechenden Rede Hitlers wurde der international außerordentlich geachtete Reichspräsident im Tannenbergdenkmal beigesetzt.
