  4. 25 de abr. de 2017 · Robert Stewart, Earl of Caithness and Orkney (1553-93), was a natural son of King James V of Scotland by Euphemia Elphinstone (b. 1509), daughter of Alexander, 1st Lord Elphinstone. He was half-brother to Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587), and to James Stewart, Earl of Moray (1531-70), a prominent figure in Scotland’s Protestant cause.

Robert Stewart, 1st Earl of Orkney and Lord of Zetland ( Shetland) (spring of 1533 – 4 February 1593) was a recognised illegitimate son of James V, King of Scotland, and his mistress Eupheme Elphinstone. Robert Stewart was half-brother to Mary, Queen of Scots and uncle to James VI and I of Scotland and England.

On 16 January 1581 he received a charter of the priory of Whithorn in commendam, vacant by the death of Lord Robert Stewart, junior, brother to Lord Robert his father. He was early accused of oppression in regard to the spoliation of a Dantzig ship in 1594, but was absolved.
