There have been many attempts to reinterpret a personal favorite of mine, Roy Ayers 's jazz-funk masterpiece Everybody Loves The Sunshine. These covers, including Ayers' own stabs, usually rest within an narrow range of flaccid smooth jazz takes. That's why, when I heard Tom Browne's sax-addicted neo-soul version, I listened to Mo' Jamaica Funk right away.
