  3. Children are allocated a ‘substance’ to look after them, to guide them around the school, make them feel at home and introduce them to their friends. The purpose of the day is to give the child the opportunity to see what a typical school day looks like and for prospective parents and the School to assess the suitability of Cheam for the child.

  4. Cheam’s reputation for sport remains extremely strong and all children regularly play in competitive matches for rugby, football, netball, hockey and cricket. The school has a strong drama and musical tradition with many extracurricular groups, including choirs, orchestra and jazz band.

  5. Cheam is a ‘singing school’ with the hope that every child feels comfortable using their voice. In the Chapel context, this means connecting with the hymns and becoming an active participant in the services. Congers normally starts with a series of vocal games, echo songs and rounds.

  6. Learning differences and difficulties are embraced at Cheam. Fostering children’s self esteem and happiness is our main aim. Our Learning Development Centre supports all children with a range of learning differences, enabling them to access the curriculum to ensure they reach their potential, to allow them to thrive.
