Loosely inspired by the suicide of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, the third part of Gus Van Sant’s “Death Trilogy,” following Gerry and Elephant depicts the final days of a reclusive rock star in a wooded lodge outside of Seattle.
His film is loosely based on the last days of Nirvana rocker Kurt Cobain (1967~1994), starring Michael Pitt as a reclusive Seattle-area musician named Blake. We can only watch as Blake disintegrates before our very eyes, hiking deep into the woods of the Northwest to avoid contact with others, avoiding phone calls, and living on dry cereal and half-cooked mac & cheese.
