Family Plot is exactly the kind of twisty, convoluted, humorous caper the Coens would later excel at, but in the Master’s hands, it’s surprisingly talky and static. You can sense his age with this one, during lengthy scenes of characters extensively discussing the plot but saying very little along the way.
