13 de jun. de 2018 · Frederick Aloysius Weld - later to become Sir Frederick Aloysius Weld, G.C.M.G. - was born in 1823 of parents who claimed a purple lineage in English history. At the age of 21, bursting with desire to serve the empire and to tread the road to adventure, he emigrated to New Zealand where he varied the life of a pastoralist with tours of exploration which served to further open up that young colony.
Whitaker was born at the Deanery Manor House, Bampton, Oxfordshire, England, on 23 April 1812, the son of Frederick Whitaker and Susanna Whitaker (née Humfrey). Frederick junior undertook a legal education and became a solicitor and attorney at the age of 27. A year later he sailed to Australia and then New Zealand. [1]

He was the sixth Premier of New Zealand, and later served as Governor of Western Australia, Governor of Tasmania, and Governor of the Straits Settlements.
