General Manuel Fernández Silvestre was the Melilla’s chief between 1920 and 1921, the most important moment in the history of the Spanish protectorate at Morocco. Silvestre’s career was brilliant until the 22th of July, when he died in the retreat from Annual, which is considered by some authors as the biggest military defeat of the Spanish history.
