Marquess of Tavistock from 1802 to 1839 Francis Russell, 7th Duke of Bedford was born on 13 May 1788 at Pall Mall, St. James's, London and died at the family home of Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire on 14 May 1861.
Bedford was a younger son of Francis Russell, Marquess of Tavistock, eldest son and heir of John Russell, 4th Duke of Bedford. His mother was Lady Elizabeth, the youngest child of Willem van Keppel, 2nd Earl of Albemarle and Lady Anne Lennox. Political career. Like most Russells, Bedford was a Whig in politics.

Russell, Francis, fifth duke of Bedford (1765–1802), agriculturist and politician, was born on 23 July 1765 and baptized on 20 August 1765 at St Giles-in-the-Fields, London, the eldest child of Francis Russell, marquess of Tavistock (1739–1767), politician, and Lady Elizabeth Keppel (1739–1768), daughter of William Keppel, second earl of Albemarle.
