23 de dic. de 2023 · FritzJulius Lemp (19 February 1913 9 May 1941) was a captain the Kriegsmarine during World War II and commander of U28, U30 and U110. He sunk the British passenger liner SS Athenia in September 1939, in violation of the Hague conventions.
Second World War (1939-1945) Rank: Käpitanleutnant (Lieutenant) Unit: Commander U-30. Awarded on: August 14th, 1940. Awarded for sinking 16 ships (with 79862 GRT) and damaging a further two (with 36742 GRT), of which the latter total included the British battleship HMS Barham. Sources.
15 de ago. de 2016 · On April 15, 1941, Kapitänleutnant Fritz-Julius Lemp left the German submarine base in Lorient, France, in command of U-110. It was Lemp’s second patrol in his new boat (see blog post “Fritz-Julius Lemp, Part 6,” Aug. 1, 2016). His first patrol had ended two weeks earlier without sinking a single ship.

9 de may. de 2011 · Fritz Julius Lemp, had been attacking a convoy in the Atlantic south of Iceland together with U-201 (Oblt. Adalbert Schnee), when Lemp left his periscope up too long (probably to confirm a kill: he sank two ships totalling 7500 GRT that day) and the escort corvette HMS Aubretia sighted it and rushed to the scene and began depth charging.
