3 de may. de 2024 · The Raimondo Montecuccoli will make history as the first Italian Navy ship to participate in two major international exercises in the Pacific region: the 29th iteration of RIMPAC and PACIFIC DRAGON. These exercises provide unique training opportunities while fostering cooperative relationships among participants, crucial for ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans.
Montecuccoli was considered the only commander able to compete with the French general Turenne (1611–1675), and like him, was closely associated with the post-1648 development of linear infantry tactics. Raimondo Montecuccoli was an Italian-born professional soldier, military theorist, and diplomat, who served the Habsburg monarchy.
Raimondo died in an accident in 1680, at the age of 71. Raimondo Montecuccoli was considered to be a brilliant military theorist and his, Memorie della guerra, published in 1703, profoundly influenced warfare afterwards.
