This is a list of heads of government under Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria. Franz Joseph was born on 18 August 1830 and died on 21 November 1916, his imperial reign lasted from 2 December 1848 to 21 November 1916. His predecessor was Ferdinand I & V and his successor was Charles I & IV.
Ferdinand I ( German: Ferdinand I. 19 April 1793 – 2 December 1848) was Emperor of Austria from March 1835 until his death in December 1848. His grandfather, Charles Louis, Archduke of Austria (1833-1896) was the brother of Franz Joseph I, Emperor of Austria (1830-1916). His father, Otto Franz, Archduke of Austria (1865-1906) , had married Maria Josepha, Princess of Saxony (1867-1944) , in 1877, who was strongly committed to the Catholic education of her children.
