The Sollefteå church was built, using granite, in the 13th century but was heavily re-modelled in the late 18th century when it was transformed into a rococo building with a high hip roof. The church was extended to the south and west and a vestry was added in the east.

Sollefteå stad ingick då i kommunblocket Sollefteå tillsammans med landskommunerna Långsele, Resele, Helgum, Ådals-Liden, Junsele samt tre av fyra församlingar i Boteå landskommun: Boteå, Överlännäs, Sånga. [5] Den 1 januari 1970 överfördes Ramsele landskommun från det avskaffade Ramsele kommunblock till Sollefteå kommunblock. [6]
In the 1953/54 season the club played in Division 2 Norrland for the first time. This achievement was repeated in 1955/56 and 1961. [1] In 2010 the club is again playing in Division 2 Norrland but this now represents fourth tier football in the Swedish football league system . The club is affiliated to the Ångermanlands Fotbollförbund.
