BC and AD are the terms used to describe the years “Before Christ” (BC means before Christ) and “AD” (In the Year of Our Lord). AD stands for the years after Jesus Christ was born. BC stands for the years before the birth of Christ. There is no year zero, so there is only the year 1 BC followed by AD 1.
