Drain the potatoes in a colander, then return the potatoes back to the pot. Turn off the heat.

  6. Instructions. Stir together the mashed potatoes, 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, and 1/3 cup fried onions. Spread into a greased 2 1/2 quart casserole dish, making a shell across the bottom and up the sides. Mix together the cooked chicken, vegetables, cream of chicken soup, milk, mustard, garlic powder, and pepper. Pour into the mashed potato shell.

When butter and oil start foam and turn golden add chicken and sauce for 3 minutes. When chicken strips are browned, turn and cook other side for 3 minutes.
