This crown was worn by Edward the Confessor at his coronation (though could’ve been in use even earlier, possibly even as early as Alfred the Great) and buried with him, only to be later dug up in the late 12th century and, starting with Henry III, was used for all English coronations up to Charles I, before being melted down by Oliver Cromwell during the interregnum.
