In 1897 the walls giving way owing to the subsidence of the ground caused by the iron-stone mining, the house was dismantled and afterwards pulled down.
Hace 2 días · St. Anne's Church, on St. Anne's Hill, was built in 1823–4, from the designs of Sir Robert Smirke. It is a large Grecian temple, with an Ionic portico and pediment at the western end. The body of the church is of brick with stone dressings, the portico and pediment are of stone; from the roof rises a circular tower in two stages, and crowned with a cupola and cross.
