Lovely little guy at Nachusa Grasslands (Illinois) yesterday. So many cicadas around the areas where prairie bordered forests! Could hardly hear the birds with the singing they were making. Since bobbing is supposed to help stabilize their vision, I’m curious why they would do this while standing still.
