6 de nov. de 2023 · Lord Howard remained in the Tower, where he caught a fatal illness and died on 31 October 1537. There is an unsubstantiated tradition that he was poisoned. His body was given to his mother, the Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, with the stipulation that it be buried ‘without pomp’. Lord Howard was interred at Thetford Abbey.

Howard, Thomas. Howard, Thomas (1473–1554), earl of Surrey and 3rd duke of Norfolk , one of the foremost soldiers and magnates of his generation, was eldest son of Thomas Howard, earl of Surrey, and his wife Elizabeth, widow of Sir Humphrey Bourchier. He married (February 1495) Anne, daughter of Edward IV, but had no children by this marriage.
Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk. Thomas Howard, the eldest son of Thomas Howard, 2nd Duke of Norfolk, was born in 1473. He married Anne of York, the daughter of Edward IV and sister-in-law of Henry VII, in 1495. He was a good soldier and in 1497 he served first against the Cornish rebels and then, in September, against the Scots.
In Apr 1525, Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk, pursued the guardship of Elizabeth Marney, of one of the two daughters and co-heirs of John, second Lord Marney of Layer Marney {d. 1525), by the latter's wife, Christian, daughter and sole heir of Roger Newburgh.
