  3. The 1929 film, The Informer, is the first adaptation of Liam O'Flaherty's 1925 novel. It's better known adaptation is arguably John Ford's 1935 remake, which I saw first and am more familiar with, but I am pleased to see that this is a classic in its own right and deserves to take its place as one of the greatest British silent movies.

  7. 10 de jun. de 2019 · There were exceptions, of course, like Hitchcock's silent films, and there was The Informer (1929), the first film version of Liam O'Flaherty's novel. John Ford's very different 1935 Hollywood feature starring Victor McLaglen is far better known, and for years the only version of the 1929 film available was a part-talkie version.
