2 de mar. de 2024 · Friederike was born in Darmstadt the eldest daughter of Prince George William of Hesse-Darmstadt, second son of Louis VIII, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt, and Countess Maria Luise Albertine of Leiningen-Dagsburg-Falkenburg. She married Duke Charles of Mecklenburg-Strelitz on September 18, 1768 in Darmstadt.[1] They had ten children together.

In order to provide his children with a replacement mother figure Friederike’s father decided to remarry. His choice of wife was his late wife’s sister and his children’s favourite aunt, Princess Charlotte of Hesse-Darmstadt. Friederike and her siblings were all in Darmstadt to attend the ceremony which was held on 28 September 1784.
