25 de may. de 2024 · Andrew Bonar Law. The ashes of statesman and Prime Minister Andrew Bonar Law are buried in the nave of Westminster Abbey. He was a Canadian by birth and Scots by descent and was born in Kingston, New Brunswick, on 16th September 1858, a son of the Revd. James Law and his wife Elizabeth (Kidston).
Andrew Bonar Law (1858-1923) was the son of a Presbyterian minister in New Brunswick, Canada, who was lucky enough to be sent when 12 to live with wealthy Glasgow banking cousins. He enjoyed a successful business career in the family bank and as partner in an iron trader, before entering Parliament at 42 and gaining a steady reputation as a business-oriented junior minister.

He entered Asquith’s coalition government in May 1915, and in December 1916 played a crucial role in Lloyd George becoming Prime Minister.

Following university education in Trinity College Dublin, he settled in Ireland. He opened the Neptune Gallery c. 1965 and operated a very successful business as a dealer in art, as well as in prints and maps.
