Hugh Lupus Grosvenor era el segundo hijo y sobreviviente de Richard Grosvenor, 2.º marqués de Westminster y Lady Elizabeth Leveson-Gower, hija de George Leveson-Gower, segundo marqués de Stafford y más tarde el 1r duque de Sutherland.
