16 de ago. de 2021 · Maria Eleonora of Brandenburg (11 November 1599 – 28 March 1655) was a German princess and Queen of Sweden as the consort of King Gustav II Adolph (Gustavus Adolphus). She was a daughter of John Sigismund, Elector of Brandenburg, and Anna, Duchess of Prussia, daughter of Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia.
Maria Eleonora was born in 1599 in Königsberg (now Kaliningrad), the daughter of Elector of Brandenburg Johan Sigismund and his wife Anna of Prussia. Her mother had a strong position as heiress to several areas of land and as a person she was both strong-willed and energetic.
Anna Maria was born at Jägerndorf, the eldest daughter of George, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach and his second wife Hedwig of Münsterberg-Oels, daughter of Charles I of Münsterberg-Oels. Anna Maria was brought up as a Lutheran and on 24 February 1544 became the wife of Christoph, Duke of Württemberg.
She was the daughter of John Sigismund, Elector of Brandenburg, and Anna, Duchess of Prussia, daughter of Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia. In the year 1620, Maria Eleonora married the Swedish king Gustavus Adolphus with her mother´s consent, but against the will of her brother George William, Elector of Brandenburg, who had just succeeded her father.
