He had no male heirs. The male line of this family expired at his death, (Feb. 9 1499) taking with him the titles to the Barony of Lord Welles and the right to their Coat of Arms"
John Welles, 1st Viscount Welles was born on month day 1426, in birth place, to John , 1st Duke of Somerset Beaufort, Knight of the Garter and Margaret Beaufort St John, Duchess of Somerset Welles (born Beauchamps Lady Welles of Bletsoede, Beauchamp, baroness, Lady St John C'tess of Somerset, Lady Wells Beauchamp C'tess of Kendale).
John (de) Welles, 1st Viscount Welles, KG (c. 1450 – 9 February 1498) was an English Lancastrian nobleman who was made a Knight of the Garter. John was born about 1450 to Lionel de Welles, 6th Baron Welles and Margaret Beauchamp. He was a maternal half-brother of Margaret Beaufort, and thus an uncle of the half-blood of Henry VII.

Sir Robert Welles had married Elizabeth, daughter of John Bourchier, 1st Baron Berners.

15 de dic. de 2018 · She married thirdly, by licence dated 14 April 1447, as his second wife, Lionel de Welles, 6th Baron Welles, by whom she had one son:[8] John Welles, 1st Viscount Welles, who married Cecily of York, the daughter of Edward IV of England.[8] Welles was slain at the Yorkist victory of the Battle of Towton in March 1461. Margaret never remarried.
