7 de jun. de 2017 · Five Leaves Left. 1969, 9/10. Five Leaves Left is my least favourite of Drake’s three studio albums, but it’s still a gorgeous and mystical near-masterpiece. Drake and his acoustic guitar are the heart of the record, but he does enjoy various accompaniments, with strings and with members of Pentangle and Fairport Convention.

All of the songs featured on this album were written & composed by the late Nick Drake, yet the way MFM plays the guitar on these songs, he truly makes them his own.

This is a ‘new’ album of material recorded in the late ’60s and produced by Drake’s estate. Family Tree is made from homemade reel-to-reel recordings charting the pre Five Leaves Left years. Most of these tracks have been floating around on bootlegs and a few also appeared on the rarities album Time Of No Reply, but Family Tree is more of a coherent package.
