Virginia Maskell wurde im Londoner Stadtteil Shepherd’s Bush als Tochter von William Eric Brands Maskell geboren. Nach Ausbruch des Zweiten Weltkrieges wurde die Familie nach Südafrika evakuiert. On January 24th 1968, a bitterly cold day she took a major overdose of antidepressants, drove from her home at Princes Risborough, and never returned.
