Danes Hill transitioned from a private house to a private school in 1947. It began as a boarding and day preparatory school for boys aged 8 -13, typical of a prep school of its day.

  5. The Prep School is divided into the Junior School (Years 2 to 5), and Upper School (Years 6 to 8), each with its own Head, its own assemblies and traditions, and very much its own ethos.   7. In Year 1 children have more opportunities to visit the Prep School as they prepare for their move up to Year 2. The day starts between 8.25am and 8.55am with registers taken at 8.55am. End of day is at 3.15pm. Many families also make use of our wrap around care which includes a breakfast club from 7.40am and extended day ending at 5.25pm.
