9 de feb. de 2007 · The New York vocalist, and one time member of the Sophisticated Gents (at age 17), Jeff Redd, released his debut, A Quiet Storm, in the year of 1990 on Uptown/MCA records. Though, it didn't cause much noise; Redd displayed a strong, soulful voice and very professional delivery, and had some fairly good new jack songs and romantic ballads.

Redd helped Blige get signed to Uptown and then used her as a background vocalist in his performances. In 1990, Redd released the album Quiet Storm. The album featured the singles 'What Goes Around, Comes Around' and 'Love High' which reached #53 and #16 respectively on the charts. 1993 saw Jeff Redd finishing up a second album, Down Low.

15 de feb. de 2024 · Redd took the tape to Harrell, who subsequently added that singer, Mary J. Blige, to the Uptown roster. Blige performed with Redd in support of his A Quiet Storm, an impressive debut that featured a pair of Top 20 R&B hits: a version of Fatback's boogie classic "I Found Lovin'" and an original ballad, "Love High," written by Timmy Allen.

Redd got a deal with Uptown-MCA Records after Andre Harrell saw him perform as a solo artist. Uptown-MCA produced his 1990 debut album, A Quiet Storm.
