BBC South Today serves people in the South. South at Six launched in 1961 with BBC TV. For many years it broadcast up until 1978. South Today always be a Member of the Nationwide Regions but when it was defunct and 60 Minutes launched in 1983, South Today went to a independent regional news company. In 2000 the opt out programme BBC Oxford was launched.
