Amalie Sophie Marianne von Wallmoden, Countess of Yarmouth (1 April 1704 – 19 October 1765) was a mistress of George II of Great Britain. Early life Born Amalie Sophie Marianne von Wendt, she was the daughter of Johann Franz Dietrich von Wendt, a general in the Hanover ian army, and his wife, Friderike Charlotte "née" von dem Bussche.
In 1738 Count von Wallmoden and Amalie were quietly and conveniently divorced. George awarded him a pension of a reputed £4000 per annum for the rest of his life. He died in 1752. In 1740 Amalie was given the titles of Countess of Yarmouth and Baroness Yarmouth of Norfolk after she legally became a naturalised British citizen.
In 1739, Amalie von Wallmoden divorced her husband. In 1740, she was naturalized and given the non-heritable title of Countess of Yarmouth, the last royal mistress to be so honoured. She was officially designated Amalie Sophie de Wallmoden to obscure the question of her marital status.
