Hace 2 días · The younger son of a moderately well-to-do Leicestershire gentleman, George Villiers rose to prominence as a result of his charm and good looks during the second half of the reign of James I (1603-1625). So besotted was James with Villiers that he showered him with lands, offices and titles, creating him Duke of Buckingham in 1623.
