25 de abr. de 2022 · Parts of Saxe-Jena were regained in 1690, and Saxe-Eisenach in 1741. It was the latter recombining of territories back under the ruler of Saxe-Weimar which provided the spur to rename these holdings to Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, with Duke Ernest August holding them under personal union. A formal union was enacted in 1809.
