Petipa extended the ballet from two acts to four and Ludwig Minkus composed brand new music for Offenbach’s score. Vazem gives an account of Petipa’s revival in her memoirs:

For this revival, Petipa included new musical additions and revisions by Léon Minkus and the revival was premièred at the Imperial Bolshoi Kammeny Theatre on 24 February 1880 for Vazem's benefit performance.

In 1848, Petipa first staged the ballet in Moscow with himself and Andreyanova again in the principal roles. However, during their appearances, a grotesque incident occurred.

  7. 24 de ene. de 2013 · The original production of La Bayadиre did not long survive Ekaterina Vazem’s retirement. Between the premiere and Vazem’s farewell February 17, 1884, it was given approximately 70 performances. Anna Johanson took over the lead role five times in the 1884-85 season.
