Aaliyah Dana Haughton (* 16. Januar 1979 in Brooklyn, New York City; † 25. August 2001 in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, Bahamas) war eine US-amerikanische R&B -Sängerin und Schauspielerin. Ihren Durchbruch hatte sie mit Try Again, dem Titellied des Films Romeo Must Die, in dem sie die weibliche Hauptrolle spielte.
Aaliyah Dana Haughton nació en el barrio neoyorquino de Brooklyn, pero pronto se trasladó con su familia a la ciudad de Detroit. En la cuna del soul de la Motown (la cantante Gladys Night se casó con su tío) Aaliyah comenzó a trabajar como modelo y cantante, consiguiendo grabar su primer disco de R&B y pop soul a la edad de 15 años.
