30 de dic. de 2020 · Earl Kenneth Hines was born on December 28, 1903 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hines. His mother died when he was three years old. Subsequently, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Mary. Hines came from a musical family. His father played the cornet and was the leader of the Eureka Brass Band in Pittsburgh.

Earl Kenneth Hines, vooral bekend als Earl 'Fatha' Hines (Duquesne (Pennsylvania), 28 december 1903 – Oakland (Californië), 22 april 1983) was een Amerikaans jazzpianist en bigbandleider. Hij wordt wel de eerste moderne jazzpianist genoemd en heeft de jazz in de twintigste eeuw mede vormgegeven.
