15 de ene. de 2022 · Francis Hay, ninth Earl of Erroll, was a Catholic supporter of the Counter-Reformation, alongside the other northern earls of Huntly and Angus. In 1594, he and Huntly achieved a notable victory over the Protestant establishment at the Battle of Glenlivet, which King James VI reacted to by demolishing the two earls' castles of Slains and Strathbogie, and forcing the two into exile.

Charles Hay, 13th Earl of Erroll (1677 – 16 October 1717) was a Scottish peer and Lord High Constable of Scotland who strongly opposed the 1707 union of Scotland and England. Biography Charles Hay was the eldest son of John Hay , and his wife, Anne, daughter of James Drummond, the 3rd Earl of Perth .

William Harry Hay, 19th Earl of Erroll (1823–1891), married Eliza Amelia Gore, the eldest daughter of Sir Charles Stephen Gore (the third son, by his second wife, of the 2nd Earl of Arran) [9] in 1848.
