LUCIUS CARY FALKLAND, 2nd Viscount (c. 1610-1643), son of Sir Henry Cary, afterwards 1st Viscount Falkland (d. 1633), a member of an ancient Devonshire family, who was lord deputy of Ireland from 1622 to 1629, and of Elizabeth (1585-1639), only daughter of Sir Lawrence Tanfield, chief baron of the exchequer, was born either in 1609 or 1610, and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin.

  7. On 10 October 1752, Falkland married Sarah, Countess of Suffolk (d. 27 May 1776), the daughter of Thomas Inwen and widow of Henry Howard, 10th Earl of Suffolk. They had no children. Falkland's only son predeceased him in 1780, so when he died in 1785, he was succeeded by his grandson Henry Cary, 8th Viscount Falkland .
