Alfred ambitioned to compete at home and abroad and formed the Łańcut polo team in 1925, made up essentially of four Potocki brothers: himself, George, Roman and Józef. In an attempt to popularize the sport, Alfred organised polo playing weeks for beginners but also invited more experienced international players.
Count Alfred Józef Potocki was a Polish aristocrat (szlachcic), landowner, and a liberal-conservative monarchist Austrian politician and Prime Minister.

Józef Mikołaj Kazimierz Marian Alfred Jakub Potocki (8 September 1862 – 25 August 1922) was a Polish nobleman, hunter, traveller and writer. A collector of books, paintings and hunting trophies, he also bred Arabian horses on his estate and worked on reintroducing European bison into Ukraine on his hunting estate.

Alfred Józef Potocki [1], né le 29 juillet 1817 (ou en 1822 selon les sources) à Łańcut et mort le 18 mai 1889 à Paris est un aristocrate polonais, qui fut ministre-président d'Autriche du 12 avril 1870 au 6 février 1871.
