Storia. Il nome è in onore del Primo ministro del Canada Lester Bowles Pearson, vincitore del Premio Nobel per la Pace nel 1957. La missione del Collegio è quella di promuovere pace, ecosostenibilità e connessione tra culture diverse, riunendo giovani da tutti i ceti sociali, senza dare importanza alla loro condizione economica, in una comunità piccola e isolata.
Pearson College UWC is incorporated by the official designation Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific and United World Colleges (Canada) Inc. under the Canada Corporations Act. The College is also registered under the British Columbia Society Act as an extra-provincial society and is a registered charity under the Federal Income Tax Act.
Lester Bowles Pearson, dit Mike Pearson [n 1], né le 23 avril 1897 à Newtonbrook (en) et mort le 27 décembre 1972 à Ottawa, est un diplomate et homme d'État canadien. Lauréat du prix Nobel de la paix en 1957 , il est premier ministre du Canada du 22 avril 1963 au 20 avril 1968 , dirigeant deux gouvernements minoritaires successifs suivant les élections de 1963 et 1965 .
