William Hyde Wollaston, M.D.—This distinguished philosopher was descended from a family originally settled in Staffordshire. He was the third son of the Rev. Francis Wollaston, F.R.S., rector of Chiselhurst, and St. Vedast, Foster-lane, and precentor of St. David’s, by his wife Althea Hyde, and was born in Norfolk 6th August, 1766.
