Edoardo Amaldi received the "Diplome" in Mathematical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne (EPFL) in 1988. After one year in the Computational and Neural Systems program, California Institute of Technology, USA, he came back at EPFL where he earned the "Doctorat ès Sciences" (PhD) in October 1994.

Questo impegno iniziò nel 1966 con una biografia di Ettore Majorana (scienziato scomparso nel 1938) e continuò con quelle di Enrico Persico, di Ettore Pancini, di Bruno Touschek, di Emilio Segrè.

Edoardo Amaldi (Carpaneto Piacentino, 1908 - Roma, 1989) nasce in provincia di Piacenza da Ugo, un noto matematico, e da Laura Basini. Studia a Roma, dove si laurea in Fisica con Enrico Fermi nel 1931. L’anno successivo sposa Ginestra Giovene. La carriera scientifica si svolge tutta a Roma.
