17 de may. de 2023 · Anna Maria van Schurman was a Dutch intellect who enjoyed a Europe-wide reputation for her understanding of various fields including philosophy, sculpture, painting, embroidery, and sculpture. She was also a famous 17th-century writer who argued for the inclusion of women in education and science.
Anna Maria van Schurman was born into a wealthy family in Cologne on November 5, 1607. Her parents encouraged various intellectual and artistic pursuits, teaching her to read before she turned four years old.

7 de dic. de 2022 · In his review of our 2021 book, Anna Maria van Schurman, Letters and Poems to and from Her Mentor and Other members of Her Circle, 1 Aron Ouwerkerk remarks that we fail to give due praise or credit to several contemporary Van Schurman scholars. Two gaps in his treatment may easily mislead readers. We here wish to remedy these gaps.
