John Augustus, Prince of Anhalt-Zerbst (29 July 1677 in Zerbst – 7 November 1742 in Zerbst), was a German prince of the House of Ascania and ruler of the principality of Anhalt-Zerbst. He was the eldest son of Karl William, Prince of Anhalt-Zerbst , by his wife Sophie , daughter of August, Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels .

Johann Georg was born in Halle on 25 June 1677 to Johann Adolf I, Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels and his first wife, Johanna Magdalena of Saxe-Altenburg. [1] He succeeded his father upon Johann Adolf's death on 24 May 1697. Because he was still a minor, the Elector Frederick August I of Saxony briefly assumed a regency.

Biography. Christian was born in Weissenfels on 25 June 1677, the second surviving son of Johann Adolf I, Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels and his first wife, Johanna Magdalena of Saxe-Altenburg. [1] He inherited the Duchy of Saxe-Weissenfels in 1712, following the death of his older brother Johann Georg, who had no living male children.
