WILLIAM MARSHAL (II) (died 1231) The first of the five sons of William Marshal (I) who in turn became earls of Pembroke. In 1220 his domain in Dyfed was attacked by Llywelyn ap Iorwerth who had complained of the inroads made by the earl's tenants on the Welsh in spite of the truce. On appeal to the king a settlement was concluded.
William Marshall’s sword is a close replica of the original weapon that dates back to the c. 1300 AD or even as early as c. 1100 AD. It was used by some of Britain’s finest knights like Sir John William Marshall (who was faithful to the crown held by Henry II), Jack Lackland and Richard the Lionheart.

16 de ago. de 2023 · William Marshal, the 1st Earl of Pembroke, was a jouster, warrior, diplomat and even twice de facto king who was the inspiration for Lancelot in medieval Arthurian tales and also drafted the Magna Carta. Marshal died aged 73 in 1219 and was buried in Temple Church in London after being invested into the order of the Knights Templar on his deathbed.
