George Bird es un vendedor de maquinaria agrícola que un día descubre que le queda poco tiempo de vida. Por ello decide disfrutar de sus últimos meses lo máximo que pueda. Los guionistas Jeffrey Price y Peter S. Seaman se basaron en el título clásico de 1950 protagonizado por Alec Guinness (Last Holiday, dirigido por Henry Cass). Luego Mark y Rapke acometieron la producción del proyecto y entonces Queen Latifah se interesó por el mismo.
